The annual Executive Council meeting was held on Sunday, August 25, one day before the start of the 2024 Annual Symposium in Zurich.

The Executive Council approved the results of the annual election by the membership for renewal of one-third of the IASS Executive Council and seated the following for 3-year terms:

• Jianguo CAI (newly elected)
• Su-Duo XUE (re-elected)                    
• Philippe BLOCK (re-elected)            
• Caitlin MUELLER (re-elected)            
• Olivier BAVEREL (re-elected)            
• Olga POPOVIC-LARSEN (re-elected)

In addition, at the meeting, the EC co-opted the following to 3-year terms:

• Stefano GABRIELE (Chair of the Organizing Committee of the IASS 2026 Symposium in Turin)
• Marisela MENDOZA (Chair of the Working Group 17)

And the following former EC members were elected to the Advisory Board:

• Alireza BEHNEJAD (Co-Chair of Working Group 20)
• Annette BOEGLE
